In April 2026 I published two books about Wilde’s first play, Vera; or, The Nihilists. One was a biography focusing on the composition, production, and reception of the play; the other was a new critical edition of the play.
Now I have rounded off the set with a third book: Vera Bad!!! Reviews of the First Production of Oscar Wilde’s Vera; or, The Nihilists (156 pp.).
Vera Bad!!! gathers together for the first time all known reviews and first-hand accounts of the short-lived productions of Vera in New York and Detroit in 1883.
